  • Hockey Forum 26th November - Moulton College

Posted by Angi Harrell on 7 October 2018

    From Andy Dale-

    Hi all,

I have arranged a series of Forums for clubs to attend on the subject of how clubs can grow their membership outside of their traditional offering. We are calling these the “Third Way” after the more traditional First (growing Saturday membership), Second, (Growing the number of juniors at a club).

This comprises alternative formats of the game such as:-

    • Back to Hockey
    • Walking Hockey
    • Masters
    • Small sided Games
    • Flyerz
    • Mixed Ability Hockey

On the evening I would like to discuss each of the above formats, where they have worked before, why you would do them, what club’s thoughts are on doing this and barriers to doing so.

Graeme from Northamptonshire Sport will be attending to discuss how similar initiatives have worked locally and signpost us to organisations that can cater for the above interest groups.

Clubs that attend the forum and successfully launch  one or more of these formats will receive a bursary of £300 to support the launch of the project.*

*subject to successfully running 10 weeks of sessions or 4 masters midweek matches, (reasonable proof required).

Can you confirm a few key members of the club can make this please?

    Andy

  • Ian Knight - Coach Available

Posted by Angi Harrell on 30 August 2018

My name is Ian Knight and some of you may know me as I was with Wellingborough for a number of years. I’m wondering if you could pass my details onto the County Ladies Hockey Clubs, as I’m available for coaching this season.

I’m a level 2 Coach and have DBS and Safeguarding up to date. I’ve also attended Coaching For Talent and disabled hockey courses.

I’ve been coaching mainly for about 30 years whilst still playing. At present I’m coaching the County Under 16 girls, the post I’ve been doing for two years so far.

I’ve also been coaching the University of Warwick men’s team for the last three seasons.

In my past I’ve coached at Northampton and Wellingborough and also many more events for England hockey.

I supply all coaching kit, balls, bibs and cones. I hope I can be of assistance to a Club or Team this season. Please contact me. Thank you

  • Time To Listen Course 19th Sept

Posted by Angi Harrell on 17 July 2018

Northamptonshire Sport are going to be running a time to listen (club welfare officer) course in September – All clubs who have under 18 players need a Welfare Officer, the role isn’t too onerous and helps club keep an eye on how its looks after its junior members.

    Here are the details :

    19/9 6.30pm – 9.30pm

    Kettering Town Harriers
    Thurston Drive
    Kettering
    Northamptonshire
    NN15 6FZ

You will need to contact Stuart Thomas at England Hockey beforehand   and he will send you a copy of our policy and procedures.  If you also send Stuart your certificate afterwards and he can update the clubs records on the EH database so they know you have a welfare officer.
