Club Chair Forum 22nd February 2017
I have arranged two evenings at Kettering Hockey Club to run a Club Chair Forum on the topic of Leadership in our clubs, as one of the 7 elements of “What makes a great club” identified by club members in our 2014 survey. We are inviting Kettering HC, Long Buckby, Northampton HC, Oundle HC, Welford HC, Wellingborough HC and Wootton Wanderers HC.
First evening – Wednesday 22nd February
Follow up evening – Tuesday 28th June
One of the most significant challenges we face in clubs is the reliance on a few volunteers to manage the whole club, this workshop is designed to help us plan a way to inspire a broader range of volunteers to support us in our desire to grow, develop, manage their activities and generally run their clubs.
I would like to invite you and key volunteers from your club to attend these two evenings, the first is to explore the topic of Leadership:-
- What Leadership means to us
- How we lead our clubs
- Examine practical examples of how we us Leadership in our clubs
- What can we learn from each other
- How we change the way we Lead and Inspire volunteers
- What are going to change.
The second workshop will be to review our progress and share how we have increased the pool of volunteers at our clubs and reduced our workload!
Please email Melanie on east@englandhockey.co.uk to say if you can attend on the 22nd and who you will be bringing to the workshop. The second workshop will be to follow up on the progress in time for the off season when we will be trying to recruit a new cohort of volunteers.

Wellingborough II pulled from the League
Hi Everyone,
During the Christmas break the committee decided regrettably to pull Wellingborough 2nds out of the league. This decision wasn't taken lightly but the struggles Wellingborough had putting out a 2nd team was proving increasingly difficult & financially costly. However I would ask all fixture secretaries to liaise with Wellingborough in the hope that, without the constraint of league rules, the fixture could be played as a friendly.
Best wishes for the new year,
Val

Users at Wellingborough School
Dear All
Sadly, I have had reports of unacceptable behaviour by some of our hirers:
- I would like to remind you and ask your supporters / spectators to respect that we are a strictly no smoking site. Anyone found smoking will result in their group being banned from hiring our facilities with immediate effect.
- Secondly, parking is to be kept to the car park. Under no circumstances, other than a medical emergency, may cars be driven alongside the astro pitches or parked on the grass. This is a safety issue and we cannot allow it.
- Finally, please respect our staff. It's not easy for them to constantly approach people and ask them to keep to the rules, particularly when they are alone and faced with a group of people. We will not accept any rudeness to our staff and will ask your group to find an alternative venue.
Thank you to those of you that this does not apply to, it is much appreciated.
Kind regards
Jackie Cliffe
